Balancing academic focus with personal pursuit
Haileybury supports and further enhances its academic and co-curricular programs with a range of extra-curricular activities covering sport, music, performances, competitions and community initiatives.
As with our co-curricular program, these activities aim to offer a balance to the academic focus, allowing each student to deepen their understanding and interest in their chosen pursuits and future pathways.
Haileybury offers a wide range of clubs and activities for students to participate in. To view the full list, please click here.
Digitech Explorers, Mathematics Challenge, Maths Talent Quest, Science Talent Search, ICAS Science, Maths Olympiad.
Every student at Haileybury takes part in the Learn to Swim program. In addition, they can choose to further their interests in Aerobics and Dance, Adventure Club, The Compass Award Program, Martial Arts and eSports. Our Newlands campus at Keysborough also offers Tennis lessons.
For senior students we enable participation in The Duke of Edinburgh Award program.
Building on our Strings and Ensembles programs and our renowned Pipes & Drums band, we provide further opportunities for music workshops, music camps and overseas tours. Private music tuition is also available for instruments including strings, brass, woodwind and percussion.
The Haileybury Curious Minds program reimagines existing extra-curricular activities to provide a more cohesive approach and boost student engagement. It enables our students to have greater access to resources via our online platform myLearning and provides recognition of their skills and passions through HYCreds — Haileybury’s micro-credentialing system.
The Curious Minds program provides students from Prep - Year 12 with a range of innovative and challenging extra-curricular and academic extension opportunities including Model United Nations, Haileybury Hive, Digitech Explorers and competitions such as Tournament of Minds, Future Problem Solving and the Human Powered Vehicle Energy Breakthrough.
Each activity is designed to expand students’ thinking and to ensure they are prepared for future pathways, careers and opportunities.
Each activity is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) and LEAP (Literature, Entrepreneurship, Arts & Politics) themed to allow students to explore particular topics at a deeper level and through a defined learning structure with the support of like-minded students and staff.
The skills and competencies honed and expanded through these activities are formally recognised by HYCreds. Haileybury students can earn and be awarded digital badges that represent their passions. This information is used to develop depth of detail for each student’s overall learner profile and serves as a mark of achievement for future consideration.
Community is central to life at Haileybury, and we have a range of initiatives available to students including Blood Bank, International Students’ Club, Library Committee and Social Justice Club.
